The short version

Your closet is yours. We collect only what we need to run My Best Friend’s Closet — helping you share pieces with the friends you trust most — and we never sell your information or use it for advertising. Your private details stay between you, your chosen friends, and us.

Who we are

My Best Friend’s Closet (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website mybffscloset.com and the member community it hosts. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By joining, you agree to this policy.

What we collect

When you join and use the app, we collect:

• Account details — your name, email address, and password.
• Profile information — your city, your birthday, and how you describe your style, skin, hair, and eye color, which the stylist uses to build your avatar and suggest looks.
• Your fit profile — your sizes and measurements, so friends’ pieces can be matched to what will fit you.
• Photographs — your profile photo and avatar, the photos you take of your pieces, and the photo used to show how a styled look would appear on you.
• Your address — your full mailing address, so borrowed pieces can travel between friends.
• Activity — the friends you add, the pieces you list, favorite, borrow or lend, and the requests and messages between members.

How we use your information

• To run the app: your closet, your friends’ closets, borrowing requests, calendars, and returns.
• To style you: outfit ideas built for your occasions, your sizes, and your photo, including images created with artificial intelligence.
• To keep pieces moving: shipping, returns, and reminders about dates and drop-offs.
• To stay in touch: welcome messages, invitations, sign-in and password emails, and updates about the app, sent from Stylist@MyBFFsCloset.com.
• To keep the community safe: preventing fraud, misuse, and duplicate accounts.

Your privacy among friends

This is a private community, and we designed the defaults around that.

• Only members you have accepted into your inner circle — and members who have accepted you — can browse your closet.
• Your full mailing address and your full last name are visible only to your best friends, the friends you transact with, and our administrators. No one else.
• When your birthday is shared with friends, only the month and day are shown — never the year.
• Your fit profile — your sizes and measurements — is private to you. It is never shown to other members, and not even site administrators can view or edit it.
• A member just beyond your circle (a “friend of a friend”) can see only the limited profile her friend sees, and cannot browse your closet until renting opens.

Artificial intelligence

The stylist in My Best Friend’s Closet uses artificial intelligence to suggest outfits, draw illustrated avatars for members who have not uploaded a photo, and render how a look would appear on your own photo. Your profile details and photos are shared with trusted AI service providers for this purpose only. They may not use your images or information to train their models or for any other purpose.

Address checking

To make sure borrowed pieces arrive, we check the mailing address you enter against a free public mapping service (OpenStreetMap). Only the address you submit is sent — nothing else about you leaves the app.

Email

Member emails — welcomes, sign-in links, password resets, and friend invitations — are sent from Stylist@MyBFFsCloset.com. We do not send marketing email you did not ask for, and every service email includes a way to reach us. You can change the email on your account at any time in your settings.

What we never do

• We never sell your personal information.
• We never use your photos or details for advertising.
• We never share your full address with anyone outside your transactions and our administrators.
• We never make another member’s sizing profile visible to anyone but her.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of trusted companies to run the app: hosting and our database, email delivery, artificial intelligence, and mapping. Each one processes your information only on our instructions and only to provide its service. We do not otherwise share your information except when the law requires it or to protect the safety of our members.

Signing in with Google

If you choose “Continue with Google” to join or sign in, Google shares your name, email address, and profile photo with us. We use that information only to set up and run your My Best Friend’s Closet account — nothing more. We never sell it or share it with anyone else, and you can remove the connection any time in your Google Account settings.

Cookies and sign-in

We use only the essential cookies and browser storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not run advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep things

We keep your information for as long as your membership is active, plus a reasonable period afterward in case you return. If you would like your account and information deleted, write to Stylist@MyBFFsCloset.com and we will take care of it — photos of pieces still out on a friend’s calendar will be handled first so nothing is lost mid-loan.

Keeping your information safe

Your account is protected by encrypted connections, password-protected sign-in, and access controls that limit who — member or administrator — can see what. No system is perfect, but we treat your information the way we would want ours treated.

Children

My Best Friend’s Closet is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to join.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for anything significant, let members know inside the app or by email.
